Rand White, who goes by the moniker RAND213 or just RAND, is a Los Angeles based visual artist. RAND213’s style is the bi-product of growing up in the Mid-City section of LA and years of formal art training. From age 6 to 16, Rand attended the Barnsdall Art Park, Junior Arts Center, where he studied drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and film & video.

As a teen, Rand became a connoisseur and maven of the Los Angeles graffiti and street art scene. After attending high school at LACES, an academic enrichment magnet school, Rand attended Loyola Marymount University. While at LMU, Rand continued his visual art exploration while majoring in Film Production.

RAND213 describes his style as a mix of abstract, post modernism, graffiti and urban art. He uses abstract shapes and lines to serve as a backdrop for color exploration and design. Rand’s creative influences include Norman Lewis, Laurie Lipton, Jean-Michel Basiquat, Jackson Polluck, Francis Bacon, George Condo and Julie Mehretu. Rand’s artistic vision was directly shaped and influenced by his aunt, Julie Villahermosa, who was an amazing sculpture and painter. His mother, Ann Ingram, played a pivotal role in nuturing Rand’s creative aesthetic. She encouraged Rand to always have a since of social responsibility and a strong commitment to community.
